Qld: Man tapped into wireless net connections to demand money
A central Queensland man has been arrested after allegedly tapping into wireless internet
connections to send threatening emails.
A 22-year-old man from Frenchville was arrested by police at North Rockhampton Park
yesterday in an undercover operation.
Police allege he'd been sending a number of threatening emails to various individuals
and organisations since August this year.
He apparently sent the emails from wireless internet connections he was able to access
around Rockhampton .. preventing police from tracing the exact source of the emails.
Police intercepted an email he sent on December 3 which demanded a large sum of money
be delivered to North Rockhampton Park .. and met him at the location and arrested him
without incident.
