NSW: Report recommends no action agaist ferry master

SYDNEY, Dec 15 AAP - A report has recommended no action be taken against the master of a
Sydney Harbour ferry which crashed into rocks with 305 passengers aboard in September.

The ferry Narrabeen was grounded in Middle Harbour on September 20 when it was forced to
divert from its normal route because of a practice yachting event for the Sydney Olympics.

Ports Minister Kim Yeadon today released the recommendations of an internal Waterways
Authority report which did not lay blame for the incident.

It recommended: "No action be taken against the Master of the Narrabeen in view of the
difficult conditions of the day, his prior unblemished record over a 30-year period and the
spirit of cooperation in which he was operating throughout the day."

Mr Yeadon's office said it could not release the full report for legal reasons.
